Sandhya Ravishankar is an independent journalist based in Chennai. She is also the convenor of the Tamil Nadu chapter of the Foundation for Media Professionals. Over the last two years, she has been subjected to several forms of intimidation for her extensive reportage on the illegal beach and sand mining in Tamil Nadu. After being trolled online, stalked and threatened of dire consequences, her situation takes a turn for the worse.

On the morning of September 27, Sandhya saw that the petrol pipe of her bike has been neatly snipped. The CCTV footage of the previous night at Sandhya's house showed two unidentified men on a bike approach her bike in the night. Sandhya recounts the incident in a complaint that she filed with the police.

She has attached pictures of the snipped petrol pipe along with the CCTV footage of the area on the previous night as evidence to her complaint.

The local inspector and SI took cognizance of Sandhya's complaint and paid a visit later in the evening. They have asked for CCTV footage from other houses on the street. The police have also promised increased patrolling in the night.
