Former Press Council Chairman Accuses Media of Fake News

Justice (retd) Markandey Katju accuses reporters of tweeting fake news for sharing an Indian Express report

Justice (retd) Markandey Katju, a former chairman of the Press Council of India, used Twitter to take on several journalists individually through the day on Saturday, 12 January 2019.

He objected to their quoting an Indian Express report which quoted former apex court judge, Justice (retd) AK Pattnaik. Why not contact Justice AK Sikri or Justice Pattnaik, he said, and accused journalists of reporting and promoting fake news.

He ended his arguments by posting a link to his blog post on the website of the news magazine, The Week.

He missed out a story by the India Today website which also spoke to Justice AK Pattnaik following Justice Katju's allegations of 'fake news'.
