Telangana CM curses media with COVID19 for critical coverage
Hurt by criticial coverage, Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) wished that a section of the media would be infected with COVID-19, reports The News Minute.
A newspaper had published a story on the lack of safety for doctors in the state. It had reported the lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). There are also reports of a doctor being attacked by the family members of a COVID-19 patient.
“Write good things if you can or go to sleep and home... At least now, those who have crooked minds should get better. I pray that it happens. It’s your karma otherwise... you should get corona, I’m cursing you. Why are they writing like this in such a time (of crisis)?” KCR said at a press conference on 6 April 2020.
News portal Great Andhra reported KCR as saying, “Some people are intentionally spreading false information. They don’t know the facts and they don’t have responsibility. Their intention is to blame the government. I wish such people fall victim to the corona virus.”
The CM said that the government had ordered PPE kits for healthcare workers and the testing kits. On April 5, the government had announced equipment it had procured and measures it had taken for the COVID-19 pandemic. The contentious story had been filed before that.
The CM did not take the criticism lightly and threatened to sue media houses labeling a section of the media yellow journalists and wishing they contracted the disease, which can be fatal.
