A website that targeted Muslim women journalists, activists, artists and researchers was taken down after it was reported on social media, leading to an outrage amongst many.

News website The Print reports that the website called ‘Sulli Deals’ put around 90 Muslim women, mostly Indians, on sale, including journalists. A Twitter user found the webite and an app based on it, where profiles of the women were created, including their Twitter profiles.

Following the outrage, GitHub pulled down the website and suspended the accounts which had created it. The Print reports that those whose profiles were tagged on the website are contemplating penal action and quoted the National Commission for Women as saying that they await details from the women since the website no longer exists.
